2016 AT&T 28 Days Contest Winner
The story behind Charles Clark’s winning photo
When Charles D. Clark submitted his grand-prize winning image to the 2016 AT&T 28 Days Contest, his goal was to “convey that justice can be served much better through unity than separation”. That message came across loud and clear in his photo of multi-race members of the One Baltimore Movement peacefully protesting in the aftermath of last year’s unrest.
“In this specific moment shortly after the Baltimore riot, I along with other leaders and advocates came to together on the frontline with thousands of people. From blacks to whites, from Latino to Chinese, from Native Americans to Italians and so on. On this day it wasn't about race ... It was about coming together as one and on this day God's love, peace and unity made a mark in history!” Clark’s caption read.
That sentiment and the compelling image accompanying it earned Clark a Samsung® Tech Makeover grand-prize package that includes a smartphone, smart watch, tablet and virtual reality headset. Nine other finalists in the 2016 AT&T 28 Days Contest won $200 gift cards for their Moments that Matter.
Clark says he plans to use his new equipment to further his work as motivational speaker, advocate, youth leader and radio personality.
“My testimony and life are built around inspiring and empowering in the most difficult and challenging times in this world,” he says.
